''Dev.D'' is a 2009 Indian Hindi-language romantic drama film written and directed by Anurag Kashyap. It is a modern-day adaptation of the novel, ''Devdas.'' The film stars Abhay Deol, Mahie Gill and Kalki Koechlin in lead roles. Anurag Kashyap
Anurag Kashyap (born 10 September 1972) is an Indian filmmaker and actor known for his works in Hindi cinema. He is the recipient of four Filmfare Awards. For his contributions to films, the Government of France made him a Knight of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, Order of Arts and Letters in 2013. After writing a television serial, Kashyap got his major break as a co-writer in Ram Gopal Varma's crime drama ''Satya (1998 film), Satya'' (1998) and made his directorial debut with ''Paanch'', which never had a theatrical release due to censorship issues. ''Devdas'' is a 2002 Indian Hindi-language period romantic drama film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and produced by Bharat Shah under his banner, Mega Bollywood. Sanjay Leela Bhansali (born 24 February 1963) is an Indian film director, producer, screenwriter, editor and music composer, who works in Hindi cinema.
